C&S rating analysis: TEPID AND RISING
At the epicentre of the stories I tell is the change people bring about in themselves and their world through technology.
That technology may be as simple as a new way of understanding, it could be a word that gives a name to something for the first time, or it could be machine learning software reconstructing brain function in a dementia patient. I am interested in the way people could use those technologies to shape and change the world. That’s science fiction to me. The human stories of tomorrow. Sometimes that can be funny.
I am originally from Coventry in the UK, a working class and left wing city. I grew up surrounded by politics and it has always felt natural for me, particularly as a science fiction writer, to engage in the national and global conversations that relate to our future, dreams and goals.
I have a BA Hons, 1st Class in Creative Writing from Greenwich University and a MA Merit in Script Writing from Goldsmiths.
From a young age I’ve been passionate about sound production and have worked in local radio as a presenter, DJ, producer and studio manager for six FM stations across nearly twenty years. I have a particular soft spot for Resonance FM where I spent 3 years managing Tuesday evenings. Beautiful chaos and art as sound.
Now I live in Wiltshire with my wife, son and dog, where I think stuff up and then try to birth it into reality.
I've got a science fiction mystery novel called 'The Messiah Algorithm' coming out as soon as I can afford to hire an editor.
My latest project is an audio drama called 'A Very British Sabotage', being produced by Marximum Volume and Chatterbox Audio.
