At the centre of my stories is the change people create in themselves and their world through technology.

That technology may be a new way of understanding ; or a cocktail of avante-garde social media messaging and distributed organising campaign techniques. Or even an AI implant reconstructing the brain function of a dementia patient.

I am interested in the way people use those technologies to shape and change the world. That’s science fiction to me. The human stories of tomorrow.

I am originally from Coventry in the UK, a working class and left wing city. I grew up surrounded by politics and it has always felt natural for me, particularly as a science fiction writer, to engage in the national and global conversations that relate to our future, dreams and goals.

Apparently, when I was a 8 I was 'disruptive'. The antidote was enrolling me at a dance and acting academy for 2 years. I hated it (and ballet) and the school hated me. Nothing like being pitted against an educational institution as a child to shape ones outlook on life. Nonetheless, now here I am: a script writer trying to make radio drama.

From a young age I’ve been into sound production and worked in local radio as a presenter, DJ, producer and studio manager for six FM stations over a 20 year period. I have a particular soft spot for Resonance FM where I spent 3 years managing Tuesday mights. Beautiful chaos and art as sound.

Like most creatives, as an adult it's been all zero hour contracts (bars, clubs, even gardening) and grinding, generally for free, in the industry I want work in.

I have an undergrad degree in Creative Writing (1st Class) from Greenwich University and a MA (Merit) in Script Writing from Goldsmiths University.

Now I live in Wiltshire with my wife, son and dog, where I think stuff up and then try to birth it into reality. Somehow, through sheer force of will, I am now earning a crust producing audiobooks at Chatterbox and DJing at weddings for Club Kudo. Wedding Djing is a bit twatty, but making people cry with joy by playing Natasha Beddingfield - Unwritten is not a bad way to earn a living. Here are three other songs I love to play at weddings:

Chapelle Roan - Pink Pony Club has immediately become an neuvo-80s power ballad classic

Serani - No Games is the single most bankable track to get a 30 something working class crowd dancing

Nimino - Better is the simply best house track released this year. Gospel / piano house at it's most potent

My latest project is an audio drama called 'A Very British Sabotage', being produced by Marximum Volume and Chatterbox Audio.

Thank you for your interest and I hope you have found enough here to destroy me / propel me to my goals.

Please head back to Marximum Volume and join the mailing list.
